Restoring Damaged Smiles

If you have a chipped, cracked, broken or missing tooth, Dr. Cukier has many solutions to fit your needs and budget. Restorative dentistry is about making your smile whole and healthy again so you can eat and smile with confidence. Our restorative procedures include:

Root canal therapy

Root canal therapy is necessary when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection. To save the tooth, we remove the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria and any decay. We fill the resulting space with special medicated dental materials, which restore the tooth to its full function. Root canal therapy is the treatment of choice to save a tooth that otherwise would die and have to be removed.

Inlay & onlay restorations

Inlays and onlays can conservatively repair teeth that have large fillings or have been damaged by decay or trauma. Inlays and onlays are an ideal alternative to conventional silver and composite fillings. They are more conservative than a dental crown because less tooth structure is removed in the preparation of inlays or onlays. They are highly durable and will last many years with proper care, giving you a beautiful long-lasting smile.

Dental crowns & fixed bridges

A dental crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface, restoring it to its original shape and size. A dental crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations. Although there are several types of crowns, porcelain crowns are the most popular. The traditional fixed dental bridge is usually made of porcelain fused to metal. The bridge consists of two crowns that cover two anchoring adjacent teeth and are attached to a pontic (artificial tooth), filling the gap created by one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges are highly durable and will last many years.

Dental implants & restorations

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth. They provide a fixed solution to having removable partial dentures or full dentures. Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances. Dental implants are artificial roots (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jawbone. The teeth (restorations) attached to implants look natural and enhance or restore a patient’s smile! Dental implants are very strong, stable and durable and will last many years.

Dentures & partial dentures

There are two types of dentures – complete and partial dentures. We use complete dentures when all of the teeth are missing. We use partial dentures when some natural teeth are missing, but not all. Partial dentures fill in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevent other teeth from shifting.
